Gift week!

It’s been a very crafty few weeks for me here and I lay the blame squarely at the door of Crafteroo. I joined a few weeks ago and I have been SUCKED IN, there are so many inspiring people and projects there and best of all they’re all UK based and are therefore accessing the same equipment as I am.

Sunday evening saw me heading to my favourite little place in the world, Tchai Ovna, to meet up with Jen. We used to meet up regularly but unfortunately I haven’t been able to make it for months for a variety of reasons and I really missed the camaraderie. I had signed up to Jen’s pay it forward exchange and she gave me my gifts – look!

Hand-dyed and hand-spun wool

Jen dyes her own wool and also spins a lot too. The skein on the left is Jen’s own hand-dyed and handspun wool, the skein on the right is hand-dyed sock yarn and the photo really does not do the colours justice. Such a thoughtful and beautiful gift Jen, thank you very much.

(If anybody is interested in buying Jen’s wool, she has an etsy store where the profit is donated to charity.)

I also received a care package from Canada courtesy of the fabulous Jenn at Matersum. Jenn is a wholehearted believer in taking small steps to make the environment a better, safer place and has a store on etsy selling her wares. Look how pretty!

Cloth pads

So yesterday my good friend Kat came over to visit. She brought along a tin of freshly baked cupcakes (such a good guest!) and her sewing machine, and once I’d cleared my living room of debris and babies we set to work. Kat and I met at university five years ago and hit it off. It’s funny as we’ve both changed significantly in terms of our outlook on life and are both now crafty types.

Kat was a great help to me yesterday and I thankfully got an item finished which I had been trying to do for a few weeks but with little luck. I can’t blog about it just now as it’s a secret but I’ll leave a little teaser picture.

Flap, button & lining

I’ll blog again in a couple of days and show the progress on my not-quite-finished projects from last week and my new works in progress.

Pay it forward

Aeons and aeons ago, in fact way back in January I posted about the pay it forward exchange and offered five places to people on my list. Of course since nobody really read my blog back in’t day (and in fact, embarrassingly I got in touch with my original PIFers last week to say their packages would be posted out soon!) I only had three uptakes. Additionally, I have also taken part in Belle Epoque’s PIF so I am going to offer three places again just now (with the proviso that it will probably be a few weeks before I get stuff sent off).

So!
The Pay It Forward Exchange. It’s based on the concept of the movie “Pay it Forward” where acts or deeds of kindness are done without expecting something in return, just passing it on, with hope that the recipients of the acts of kindness are passed on. So here’s how it works. I will make and send a handmade gift to the first 3 people who leave a comment to this post on my blog requesting to join this PIF exchange. What YOU have to do in return, then, is pay it forward by making the same promise on your blog.

If you’re interested, leave me a comment and answer the following questions please!

1. Do you knit?
1b. If you knit, what weight yarn do you use most?
2. Do you have children?
2b. If you have children, how old are they and are they boys/girls?
3. Do you have a sweet tooth?
