OK I’m relying on you lovely ARTISTIC bunch to help me out a little here.
My girls share the smallest room you could imagine. It’s an L shape, with a built-in closet making up the missing square. The longest wall has just enough room for Greer’s cot and the head of Erica’s bed. The short wall has maybe a foot of space at the end of Erica’s bed. It is tiny and until yesterday was decorated in a very bright pink that was pretty but a little loud for a baby & toddler room.
I found this gorgeous wallpaper in B&Q the other day and I’ve bought a roll of it to do the biggest wall with the intention of painting the other walls white BUT after giving the walls a quick once-over yesterday I realised that white paint will make the wallpaper look dirty because it’s more of a cream colour.
SO! I come to you experienced people for help. To make it easier, I can paper the wall today and take photographs if that will help but I’d rather paint before I paper so I don’t risk damaging this gorgeous print. What colour would you paint the walls if this was your room? I’ve been thinking of either a baby pink (which risks looking like pepto-bismol) or a light grey (the wallpaper has metallic accents) but that could highlight the less-than-perfect walls.
Ideas..?

I’ve bought a v similar wallpaper from the monsoon range at B&Q for our lounge in a v pale turquoise. We both have good taste
Lilac?
My girls have pale pink walls (Kate’s choice) & I’m not that fussed by it myself. I’m going to do an accent wall in dulux’s raspberry bellini, which is a deep pinky red.
If it were me, I’d just try and match a cream paint for the other walls.
But then I don’t do wallpaper at all. It frustrates me.
I do love a good painting though
I’d go for a pale lavender or lilac.
I’d go with a matching cream paint too, or a pale green or blue? Green and blue both match the greys in the wallpaper as well as the cream in the background.
That’s gorgeous wallpaper btw!
I’d go for pale pink too, but it would have to be very dusky with grey/brown tones. (as opposed to orangey/reddy tones)
Gorgeous wallpaper, BTW, love it!
I’d go for matching the cream background of the paper. x
I’d go for a cream too, probably to match, but possibly darker. If you’re looking to add pink, I’d do it in accents – lampshade, bedspreads, etc.
Matching the colour would be the best I guess but I’m a cheapskate so if I already had the white paint then either mix a tiny splodge of colour to make an off white or just paint the walls white and then frame a piece of wallpaper to hang against it and tie it in.
If it helps any, I have cream furniture and snow white walls and it actually looks fine.
I’d go with cream as it’s a small room. I have the same problem with my daughter’s teeny-tiny awkwardly-shaped room!
I would definitely try match the cream OR go for a corresponding neutrals shade (Dulux ‘White Pepper’ and ‘Wheatgrass’ are fairly extensive in my home so I may be biased, heh). I would get a tear off sample of the wallpaper from B & Q (if there isn’t an open roll there for you to do this, just ask a member of staff if you can take a sample) then stick it in the middle of a piece of card or similar and use tester splodges next to them?
That’s utterly gorgeous wallpaper btw, lucky girls!
