Oh. My. God.

I was over visiting my sister today and she has some photos of us as kids – photos I haven’t seen for a few years and which I’m now utterly horrified by. I thought I’d share with you my typical child-of-the-80s photos. Excuse the quality – these are photographs of photographs so aren’t the best.

Circa 1987 in a swimming pool in Corfu. The holiday of nightmares – Steph had a convulsion, the locals were apparently dropping like flies because it was a heatwave and I sliced my foot open in the pool (I still have the scar) so couldn’t go swimming for most of the holiday. The HAIRCUT of nightmares. Yes, that is a mullet I’m sporting. I think my Mum hated me as a child and punished me by giving me the worst hair DON’Ts ever. Steph on the left, Dad in the middle, me on the right.
Stephanie, Dad and I. Summer 1987?

Circa 1989, at Pontins in Southport. Me on the left (with the curly hair and STRAIGHT FRINGE, my God), my sister Kim in the middle (who won a bonny baby competition that day) and my sister Stephanie with blonde hair (wearing the same dress as me. Mum seriously, what were you smoking?!)
Me, my sister Kim and my sister Steph. Circa 1989.

Christmas 1992, reunited again! This was after my first term at boarding school and we went out for Christmas dinner. Steph on the left, Kim in the middle and me on the right. Callum isn’t in this photo because we don’t love him because he was just a baby and was sleeping in his carseat (I don’t remember, I just found another photo showing this. I’m not that good).
Me with my sisters, Christmas 1992

That’s enough for today I think! I’m away to die in shame.

Nairn looks *just* like Steph in that first pic. My goodness the resemblance is incredible. And for what it’s worth, I don’t think you look as bad as you think. :) It was the 80s.

My mum used to do that to me and my wee sis, dress us up in the same outfit, same hair. We were like twins. Which would have been fine were it not for the 5 year age gap. Bad enough when you’re like 8 and your wee sis is 3, but when yer maws trying to force you into wearing ankle socks and a matching outfit to that of your 10 year old sister you know theres something wrong in her head. Seriously.

I’ll try and dig out some “child of the 80′s” pics of me later actually.

Ankle-sockgate occurred when I was 15 btw. It was worse because by the time I was 15 I had my clownish size 8 feet and my mum was trying to make me squeeze into size 5 frilly lacy ankle socks.

I have never wanted to be adopted more.

I just came across my primary school photos recently – maybe I’ll do a post sometime after the holiday!

ACE! Jenn’s right by the way, Steph and Nairn are the same people in that first pic.

I think I’m going to e-mail my Dad and see what pics he has of me as wean on his PC.

    xx

I think Steph looks a LOT like Erica!

Yeah, Nairn/Erica are Steph’s doubles and Finn looks just like you in that top picture. WOW!
I always thought Nairn/Erica/Greer were Bob’s spits and Finn Alan’s. But it’s obvious your genes are strong too.
