I don't know how I missed this post! Have you had the party yet? I like the idea of a treasure hunt. Wouldn't worry TOO much about keeping them entertained though...if you can't think of activities just bring out the ducks! Kids'd go crazy over animals. Actually, maybe increase security around the narnimals.

Superheroes? Do all little boys have a collection of superhero costumes? (mine did at 3) .. so they could all dress up as superheroes and you could theme everything else accordingly. xx

whenever its H's birthday party all the kids just run around the house like feral animals.. as H was born the week before Halloween we always seem to have a dressing up Halloween party for his birthday, which all the kids love because they can dress up as whoever they want, though I have the sneeking suspicion that next year H will want a starwars themed party and my hair just isnt long enough to do princess Leia buns!

if wall-e is your cake make it a theme too.. or you could do a mini movie themed party.. put wall-e on the dvd player and have movie themed snacks like mini hotdogs in buns, popcorn, ... you can put the dvd on while they eat for utter silence.. and before then do dancing games where they have to freeze like a robot when the music turns off.. I saw a good kids craft idea for making robt collages with cut outs from cookery magazines.. all the colanders, blenders, pots and pans cut out and adding bits of broken pen springs, burnt amps and other junk drawer finds to make little robot collages out of...

p.s. what a cutie!

I was going to suggest robots to. If you could get hold of some cardboard boxes you could build a robot together. That would take a while!

I'd go soft play! lol :p
Just contain them all in one room, write up an activity plan and be prepared!
If he likes wall.e i'd go for robots. What about maybe having a crafting table where they can all make robot masks? then they can run round and do some robot moves!

http://tipjunkie.blogspot.com/2008/09/tip-junkies-13-day-birthday-bash.html

Have a wee look on there. That post is specifically about themed birthday parties.

But there is also a button on the site on the left hand side where you can search so if nothing there takes your fancy search it, cos I remember loads of posts from them about kids birthday parties.

Definitely Pirates - you can organise a treasure hunt around house/garden - this will keep the kids going for ages. Beforehand you can make a chest out of sticky back plastic stuff and paint cheap toys gold, then bury it on the day. Make a treasure map - draw the house/garden, scrunch it up and tea stain it to make it look authentic. Burry gold coins in easy to spot areas, those with the most win a prize, the one that finds the treasure chest wins the big prize. Make it fancy dress as pirates with ripped trousers/shirts etc. Have a crafty session with the kids to make their pirate hat and eye patch (before the treasure hunt). If the kids are entertained, then they will behave (that's the theory!!). If there are girls present, they too can be pirates - it doesn't matter. Pass the Captains Treasure Chest (instead of pass the parcel). Buy a skull and corssbones stamp and stamp place name cards and invitations etc. Ah ha, me hearties. Call me Sailor Sam
