First of all I should preface this in bold capital letters: DO NOT WORRY, I AM HOME AND BEING WELL LOOKED AFTER. Which means that when I tell you I was rushed to hospital in an ambulance last night you won’t fret about me, right?
I’ve written and deleted this a few times because I don’t really know how to explain it without it being really scary! So brevity is the way forward. Last night I collapsed unable to breathe and was rushed up to hospital by ambulance and my aforementioned ear & throat infection turned out to be a raging case of bacterial tonsillitis. I am now taking enough medication to floor your average-sized elephant and the Doctor reckons it’ll be a good week before I’m back to full strength. Tonsillitis! I can’t believe it, I thought it was a bit of a sore throat you know? This is unbelievable.
Of course, this has hit me right when I have reams of deadlines to meet and crafting that I want to do. I have a stack of half-finished projects waiting for me and I just don’t have the energy to deal with any of it. Ah well. I’ve been well warned that I need to rest up to let this clear so I’m going to spend the next few days doing very little and enjoying having Bob pamper me.
Thanks for all the lovely comments in my last post and on twitter – you’re a bunch of superstars!

Poor wee lamby lamby.
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
I love you
Whoa! That sounds super scary. I never knew tonsillitis could get that bad. Rest up and feel better.
aw no, that’s awful! I hope you get loads of rest and feel much better soon. xx
It’s no joke having tonsillitis – I used to be off school for two weeks at least once a year with tonsillitis, septic throats, swollen glands – the funny thing is I still have my tonsils!! The best thing is ice cream – very soothing!!
Anne it’s funny, over on twitter I’ve just been expressing my shock at just how ill I’ve been with what I understood to be a run-of-the-mill illness. I’m floored by it, and I’m rarely if ever ill so I’m glad it’s taken me my 27 years to get my first dose!
Oh no, bad luck! Tonsillitis is a weird thing, it seems to sneak up on you – I went to the doctor once about a completely unrelated thing, mentioned I had a bit of a sore throat and when he had a look he said I had tonsillitis and should go straight home to bed and rest. I hate to think what my throat must have looked like to provoke that reaction! Hope you’re better soon – rest really is the way to go!
Hope you start to feel better soon the Antibiotics they usually give for the dreaded T are amazing, hopefully you will start to feel more human soon. And in the mean time eat lost of ice-cream it has medicinal benefits of soothing your throat and also making you feel good the way ice-cream only can.
Take care and pleased you are being looked after
i thought the same about tonsilitis until I got it last year. Its really horrible and I was really rough for about 2 weeks. Make sure you rest. Everything can wait a couple of weeks. Hope you feel better soon!
Make the most of your enforced rest – we all need a bit of pamering everynow and then, but god, it must have been terrifying for Bob! Lots of cuddles and ice cream x
Poor thing – how scary that rush to hospital must have been. Like Jane says, make the most of the enforced rest and then you’ll be able to get back to all you want to do absolutely fighting fit. Get well soon. xxx
