Okay, I’m going to have a moan today.
I’m a member of many crafting communities, both UK based (like Crafteroo) and US based (like Craftster). In addition to these sites, I also read a multitude of blogs which inspire me to be a more creative crafty person. Some of the creative things I see are just outstanding – personal recent favourites include these gorgeous fabric buttons (which I have been assured by Incy Wincy I can make using her kits), this Gumball fish bowl which had me scouring eBay for a gumball machine until I realised I have nowhere to put a fish bowl, and marble magnets which I have wanted to make for aeons.
The problem is, I can’t get the clear flat glass marbles that I want! Over here, it’s just impossible. I can get plenty of those decorative glass pebbles, but none which appear to be of the quality our American counterparts have access to which appear to be marbles sawn in half.
Unfortunately, this is one of many projects which I find are out of my bounds due to cost. We pay in pounds what our American friends pay in dollars for fabric. Yarn costs more here and we have an appalling selection in comparison. Even crafty publications are more numerous in America! And I for one just don’t have the disposable income to pay postage for these things. It’s very depressing.
Anyway. On a happier note, the Autumn edition of Knitty is up and there’s a good few patterns I’d like to knit. PurpleJen gave me a gorgeous skein of silk which I have looked at and touched loads but which hasn’t been given a purpose – I suspect that will become an Abby. I’m also falling in love with the OpArt pattern as I know two little boys who’d love a blanket that’s a little out of the ordinary.
I haven’t posted my guinness cake as we had a bit of a battery-failing-in-scales incident and my cake was a failure. I will hopefully be back tomorrow with my chocolate beetroot cake, time will tell!

I’m with you on this one. If I had the money I would set up a supplies shop with all the goodies we would ever want
Thanks for the birthday wishes. I know what you mean about craft supplies over here in fact some are so much cheaper in the states even adding on shipping it’s still cheaper than getting it here if of course you can get the item at all. The price difference is true on many other things to..
