On Wednesday 9th September 2009 I participated in an art photography project known as “A Day In The Life…” where I spent the entire day photographing what I was up to. Wednesday was a fairly quiet day for me with no crafting and no clubs so it’s not wholly representative of my life, but here you go anyway!
This entry takes us from me waking up to 2pm. I’ll post the rest in a new entry tomorrow.
I’d like to suggest “A Day In The Life…” craft bloggers special. I’m thinking Friday 25th September – would that suit everyone? I can polish up a guide if so.
For the first time since I was at school I’d got organised the night before, but when I lifted the camera to take photographs I discovered the battery was still on the charger! No matter. I’d had a pretty terrible sleep thanks to baby G so I nipped to the loo, got back into bed and booted up my laptop.

I quickly checked a few websites

and the family come to say good morning. Bob brings Greer for her first feed of the day.

I chill out feeding Greer for a little while, catch up on my Facebook fan page, Twitter, email and Crafteroo until Greer decides that she’s finished and her Daddy takes her away to get dressed.

Having gone to bed with my hair wet after a shower the night before, I’m currently rocking the ultimate Medusa look. I dig out the trusty GHDs, put some fast tracks on Spotify and send text messages to my sister & Mum to organise the day.

Hair done! I pop through to the boys’ bedroom to look in the mirror and find Sia in Findlay’s bed. Isn’t she gorgeous? She’s such a loving cat it breaks my heart to think that she was abandoned in an SSPCA centre. But she’s home with us now. I peep over the bannister and Erica is on the stairs in her funky dress looking very happy with herself which is usually a sign that she’s ready to go! I pop into the bathroom to put a little makeup on and Bob makes fun of me for being a poser.

I’m pretty much ready to go so I grab the LITTLE SHOPPING LIST that Bob has written for me and have a wistful look at the half-finished bag on my ironing board. Nairn has been in a terrible mood all morning so we decide that he’s staying home with Daddy and I wave goodbye to them before jumping into the car

We get to the shopping centre and I get my amazing pram out of the boot. It’s a Phil & Ted’s double and it’s ingenius design means that Greer is essentially hidden underneath Erica. I’m not precious by any means about the children, but it really irritates me that newborn babies seem to be property of anyone who wants to touch, poke, squeeze or otherwise annoy them so in our pram Greer has a chance to sleep in peace.

Thanks to my dreadful sleep, I’m running about an hour later than usual so we miss our usual nursery rhyme class at the library and head straight to the cafe to meet my sister Stephanie and our friends Jean & Isobel with their babies. Isobel is a hairdresser and hasn’t seen Erica’s pink hair so we’re greeted by her leaping out of her seat in horror!

I leave Greer with them and go to get Erica & I lunch. Some soup & a roll for me and a lunchbox for Erica.

Molly, Bailey (my niece) and James

I tell Erica to give me a thumbs up. I think she needs a bit more practice.

Isobel, her Mum and James have to go. We finish our lunch and get ready to go too, Molly & Jean are going home but Stephanie & I are going for our weekly Starbucks via some shops!

After pottering around a couple of shops, Stephanie lets Bailey out her pram to walk. We’ve laughed many a time about our Mum’s woeful habit of dressing us the same when we were younger so I’m heartily amused that Bailey is wearing the same dress as Erica. The girls hold hands for a little while and Bailey offers Auntie Vonnie a kiss

Starbucks! The highlight of our week. Erica decides which cake she wants, we place our order and I wake Greer up as Bailey falls asleep.

Mmmmmmmmm. I have my drink (skinny vanilla latte) and feed Greer.

Erica has been so good walking that I decide to put Greer in the top seat for the first time so that she can see what’s happening in the world.

Erica was totally enthralled by this shop! I couldn’t work out why until I noticed the animal heads. Cute!

It’s now 2pm so we’ll be back tomorrow with the next part of our day. Includes the oldest & youngest members of my family in the same place, a visitor, a disagreement and rather a lot of vomit (not pictured!)

This is a great idea! 25th is good for me.
Love Erica’s hair, and Greer is so cute!
Oooh yes I like doing ADIML’s, if I remember I’ll do it too
Fab photos
Must do one again for my day
Gorgeous pictures! I did a DITL on LJ once and spent about three days editing – never again!
Great post, love seeing the first half of your day! Must have been a bugger editing all those though!
I’d do a day in my life in pictures but with baby due in around five days it may not be overly crafty and more baby/nipples/knackeredness etc… But interesting to do none the less. Will have my camera charged and ready for the 25th!
xxx
great post.. much more intresting than if you saw the first half of most of my days!
mmm latte
I did one of these AGES ago on LJ
It would be nice to do another one. I’m staying with LJ friends in Kent that weekend so it won’t be a typical day in my life but I’ll do it anyway…
What a fab idea, and how gorgeous is Greer, and that pink hair, it looks like it suits her personality!
Keep going, sometimes routine can be the best thing
I’ve never done a DITL… maybe I ought to one day.
Great pics!
